The Five Year Olds

Our Kindergarten program combines the uniqueness of the Montessori environment with academic rigors the children are eager to pursue. Disciplines utilized in the early childhood Montessori curriculum are also part of the kindergarten program, but have added elements that allow children to engage in work that has broader scope and complexity.

The five year olds' day is spent both in the core Montessori classroom they have been a part of for the previous two years and in the full Kindergarten Montessori classroom. (A morning session child goes first to his/her original classroom setting, then in the afternoon goes to the kindergarten classroom; the reverse is true for afternoon session students.)

The curriculum builds upon the learning sequences first introduced - language arts, mathematics, geography, science, music, art - while adding new materials and subject matter to allow for in-depth study and exploration. French is also introduced in our kindergarten environment.
